Are YOU Creating a Relationship with your Customers?
Social media and the Internet connects you (aka your company) with your customers and allows you to create a relationship.
I repeat, YOU and your customers. Not a marketing agency, not your nephew. Customers want to connect with you. But when you let someone else create your internet marketing content (ie, blog posts, YouTube videos, facebook posts), customers are connecting with that person, not you. Read more…

Make The Social Media Change To Benefit Your Personal Brand
Each one of us has a comfort zone; it is human nature to want to be comfortable. The problem with being comfortable is it can lead to complacency. Complacency will lead to failure in whatever you are being complacent in.
Weight lifting is a good example. What happens to muscle if it’s never used? It will get smaller and eventually become useless. The only way to get muscle to grow is to make it sore, make it hurt and break it down. No pain no gain. The same applies to our business life and any other aspect of our life. If we become complacent in our work pretty soon we may be looking for a different line of work. It is important to recognize the areas in your life where you may have become complacent and make the necessary changes. This is easier said than done. If you want to grow then you need to get out there and do something about it. “If you keep doing what you are doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting”. Change is constant, if we fight this change we will be unhappy and unsuccessful most of our lives Read more…

Internet Marketing for Appliance Repair Technicians
Every day more and more customers are using the internet to satisfy their needs. According to recent studies, over 80% of US consumers chose the internet as their preferred media channel to find what they are looking for, which includes about 40% of consumers who said that they use their mobile device for local search. The reason? Simple – the internet offers dynamic, real-time information; customers are now just c lick away from having a technician at their house to diagnose the problem. So what does this all mean for you? It means that traditional forms of local advertising, such as print Yellowpages and newspaper ads, have become less significant and much less cost-effective, and that in order to be competitive in today’s marketplace, local businesses MUST have a strong web presence. Of course, one big question for any local business owner is: where on the internet should you be advertising?
The typical approach a customer takes when searching online is using a search engine, of which Google is the leader, followed by Bing and Yahoo. There are two different ways to go about advertising yourself on search engines: through the organic, or natural search results, and through the paid search results, which are the featured search results highlighted at the top and side of the page. A common misconception is that in order to have a good presence online, that you must have a website. Read more…

Crisis management planning
A crisis is any situation that threatens the reputation or integrity of your company, usually brought on by adverse or negative media attention. These situations can be any kind of legal dispute, theft, accident, fire, flood or manmade disaster that could be attributed to your company.
If handled correctly, the damage caused by a crisis can be minimised. It pays to have a crisis management policy in place so that, when the worst happens, you have an established way of controlling the negative fallout. Read more…

Modern Marketing:
Companies want more customers – that much is obvious. But how do they get more customers? They have to advertise their services. Again, so far nothing
new. Most advertising comes in the form of TV ads, billboards, newspaper and magazine inserts, radio, sponsorships and so on, but there’s something else that a lot of companies are just starting to use: the internet.
Because the internet and the web are so far reaching, and because more and more people are getting on everyday, and because it’s so easy to put your advertising message in front of an internet user, companies are spending billions of dollars in online advertising campaigns. And it’s that money which is going to get spent on your next free gadget. The main approach that companies take is that they need to get eyeballs onto their offers. Their offer might be a free trial, or a free sample of their main product, but the more people they can drive to that offer, the more new customers they’ll eventually attract.
For example, if 100 people see the offer, they know that on average, 1 will sign up and become a customer. That customer will also have a particular value associated with it – they’ll know (through research) that over time, each customer will be worth an average of $50 (for example) to the company. That means, the company can afford to spend up to $50 to drive 100 visitors to their offer, because they know that 1 person will turn into a customer and bring $50 worth of revenue for the company.
This is absolutely key – the company can spend money getting people to try out it’s free offers, because they will make money in the long run.
But that’s not the whole story. The next bit is crucial – how can we get these companies to pay US the money to spend on gadgets? This is where another type of company comes in – the incentives marketing company. To make the distinction clear, the company with the offer will be known as the “Offer Company” or “Offer”, and the incentives company will be the “Incentive Company” or “Incentive”.Put simply, the offer company will pay money every time someone complete’s one of their free offers. Incentive companies refer people to the offers and collect the money. Once they’ve got that money together, they use some of it to buy gadgets for you. Some sites even offer cash instead of gifts – so you can complete a few offers and earn real money, as much as $500+ for some offers.
So here’s how the whole process works together:
? Offer companies create a series of offers.
? An incentives company collects these offers together and creates a website.
? You go to the incentives website and complete some free offers.
? The incentives website is paid by the offer companies.
? The incentives website uses that money to buy you gadgets!
The offers are free, and the offer company will pay out cash to the incentives company who refers visitors to the offers. They can do this because a certain percentage of visitors will convert to customers.
Nowadays, to speed up the whole process and to improve the quality of the visitors which the offer companies receive, they ask that you fill out one offer yourself, then invite your friends to fill out other offers.
1. Register with the site, and choose a free gadget
2. Complete an offer
3. Refer some friends to the site to complete steps 1 and 2
NOTE: it’s important to note that is NOT a pyramid or ponzi scheme. Your friends DO NOT have to refer more friends in order for you to collect your freebie.Once you have completed an offer, and your friends have complete an offer, you will receive your freebie.

Campaigns Gone Viral
I just finished reading a whitepaper I downloaded giving advice on what a company can do to ENSURE their campaigns go viral. This got me thinking, it’s my opinion that no one can promise or commit to a client that they will deliver what will become the next big viral marketing sensation. That’s like promising a client a 5% ROI on a direct mail campaign when you know damn well you’ll be lucky to see .5% – .75%! I come from the school of under promise and over deliver so it pains me to see people make promises that can’t possibly be kept in order to win business.
And just like any another form of marketing you can provide a foundation that is based on strategies and tactics that have been proven to be successful but at the end of the day it’s all very subjective and comes down to what the consumers respond to. Case in point… Old Spice didn’t have a clue that The Old Spice Man would become as big as it did while on the converse General Motor’s never predicted the annihilation of their “create your own advert” viral marketing campaign when the environmentalists created negative ads. Use Your Ebay Store To Double Your Sales
If you don’t have an eBay store you could be losing money big time.
Why?
When eBay stores first came out they were a flop. They actually wanted you to pay big time listing fees to put items in your store for up to 30 days but store items don’t appear in the regular eBay searches.
Because eBay stores were not doing that well eBay added “Good Till Canceled” listings. The listing fees are only 5 cents every 30 days which is a total bargain. But the big problem again is eBay store items don’t appear in regular searches. Read more…

It’s All in the Presentation
In addition to the content of the communication, take into account the format of the content. A delicacy served on a paper plate isn’t worth as much as it is when presented on a china plate with a garnish. It’s all in the presentation. You may have extremely valuable content but if it is just thrown together without much effort put into the final presentation of the content, the social object you have created isn’t worth as much as it would have been with an enticing format. This isn’t to say that the content has become entirely worthless but it won’t be recognized as something of great value without the proper presentation.
It is human nature to be attracted to aesthetically pleasing things. Simplicity plays an important role in aesthetics. The general public is not interested in something that is over-complicated and time consuming. You can simplify your content without losing any of its integrity by presenting the key points of the subject matter and leaving out anything that doesn’t directly support the key points and doesn’t provide an element of entertainment. Social Media and Brand Consistency
We all talk about brand building and using social media as a marketing tool a lot. One subject that I feel has been overlooked is keeping your branding consistent throughout each different social media platform. The look and feel of most social media platforms are all different but it’s important that when someone visits your Facebook or Twitter page that they still know it’s definitely your brand. So how will they know?
Many brands use the FBML tab to create a tab that looks and feels very similar to the brand’s website. You will need to either know HTML or FBML or you will need to have someone write it for you. There are several other customizable options on Facebook including the About section, the ability to upload company logo’s and pictures and switching the tab that shows up first for your Facebook page visitors. You can see some great examples of excellent Facebook pages on the inspiration feed blog. Read more…
Don’t Touch That Button—Save Your Personal Brand!
As a young man I was always fascinated by the James Bond movies. I loved the action, the toys and, okay, the girls. But the toys are what really fascinated me. The idea of a watch with a laser in it, a car that could actually be a submarine or a motorbike that could turn into an airplane captivated me. James Bond was definitely one of my childhood heroes.
It seemed that every movie followed the same basic plot and each of the bad guys all had a special button they could push when things seemed a little too bad–the “self destruct button”, When it became apparent that the bad guys where going to lose they always went for that button. Read more…
